First Grade Teacher

Position: First Grade

Job Description: A Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, and nurturing learning environment that fosters students' academic growth and development. The teacher will implement a comprehensive educational program and collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and growth. 

Requirements: 

 Instructional Planning and Delivery:

• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and school curriculum. 
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and instructional resources to meet the diverse needs of students. 
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement. 
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions. 

Classroom Management:

• Establish and maintain a respectful and effective classroom management system. 
• Promote positive student behavior and address behavioral issues in accordance with school policies. 
• Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages risk-taking and learning from mistakes. 
• Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies. 
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

Student Support and Differentiation:

• Identify and address individual student needs through differentiated instruction and personalized learning plans. 
• Provide additional support to students with special needs, including collaborating with special education staff. 
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress. 

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and development. 
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities. 
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and other staff to plan and improve instructional practices. 

Professional Development and Growth:

• Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. 
• Reflect on personal teaching practices and seek feedback for continuous improvement. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Valid Indiana Teaching License or be eligible to obtain teaching licensure in a timely manner. 
• Previous teaching experience in a school setting is preferred 
• Upon offer, the applicant must complete and clear all background check requirements for school personnel as required by IN state law.
