Specification Sales

The role of a Specification Sales Associate is to spread awareness and knowledge of our agency and the brands that we represent. It is your challenge to insert yourself into the firms on your account list to become their trusted advisor for lighting and product solutions and influence the use of our brands on lighting specifications. Your list of accounts will be tailored to your strengths and may consist of any of the following: Architects, Electrical Engineers, Lighting Designers, End Users or Interior Designers. 

Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain relations on an active roster of accounts consisting of architectural, engineering or lighting design firms or end users. 
• Practice discovery skills (on which you will be trained) to uncover viable project opportunities.
• Take an active role in mentoring new hires at Indiana Lightworks after your development.
• Give product presentation as needed to customers and provide daily education of specifiers.
• Learn a base level of knowledge of lighting for a variety of applications and use this to serve your customers solutions.
• Participate in trainings (with some travel) provided to you on product and processes.
• Be active with ILW team collaboration in the office and in the field.
• Daily use of problem-solving skills.
• Set up and execute on in person and virtual sales calls.
• Consistently follow up and establish creative engagement approaches with new and existing customers.
• Participate in design community social interaction (1-2x/month evening events or industry functions).
• Have a high level of proficiency with Microsoft office and knowledge of Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.

• Knowledge of the electrical industry and lighting controls is a bonus.
