Company Overview
Indiana Geothermal is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana and maintains a sales, service, and warehouse location in Monticello, New York. The company operates three divisions: distribution of ClimateMaster geothermal heat pumps and associated equipment; residential geothermal horizontal trench construction; and commercial geothermal loop construction and equipment installation. The New York office is distribution only. The commercial construction division works in multiple states, primarily from Indiana to the Northeast. Each division is staffed with company employees.
Position Summary
Indiana Geothermal is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant / Controller to serve as the senior financial leader for the companies. This role is responsible for the financial reporting, accounting controls, payroll, planning, forecasting, and financial analysis functions for Indiana Geothermal and New York Geothermal Supply. The two companies are separate legal entities and are privately owned by the same management groups.
The successful candidate must bring deep accounting knowledge, sound business judgment, strong analytical ability, impeccable ethics, and the leadership skills needed to manage financial operations for a growing multi-division business.
Primary Responsibilities
· Publish accurate monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheets for Indiana Geothermal.
· Publish accurate monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheets for New York Geothermal Supply.
· Maintain separate accounting records and financial reporting for the two separate legal entities.
· Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory control, and general ledger functions.
· Administer and support multi-state payroll requirements.
· Maintain strong accounting controls and support accurate, timely financial close processes.
· Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, cash-flow projections, and management reporting.
· Provide financial planning and analysis to support business decisions across the company's divisions.
· Work with management to analyze project, division, inventory, margin, cost, and operating performance.
· Use Jonas ERP software, or a similar ERP platform, to support accounting, reporting, payroll, inventory, and management functions.
· Improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, workflow efficiency, and internal controls where appropriate.
· Communicate financial results and recommendations clearly to company ownership and management.
· Manage financial staff, vendors, outside accountants, payroll partners, insurance contacts, banking relationships, or other financial service providers as assigned.
· Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field.
· Ten or more years of accounting, finance, controller, senior accounting, or comparable financial management experience.
· Deep-rooted knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory control.
· Demonstrated business acumen and ability to connect financial data to operating performance.
· Experience with Jonas ERP software or a similar accounting, construction, distribution, or business ERP system.
· Experience managing payroll in multiple states.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial reporting.
· Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial managers.
· Managerial ability and comfort serving as the senior financial role in the company.
· Impeccable ethics, confidentiality, judgment, and professional integrity.
· Ability to work full time in office in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position is not remote.
Preferred Qualifications
· CPA designation preferred.
· MBA preferred.
· Experience in construction and/or distribution, inventory-based operations, or multi-division businesses preferred.
· Experience supporting privately owned companies with multiple related entities is a plus.
