QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Minimum of four (4) years of successful elementary teaching experience
- Completion of LETRS for Teachers
- Master's in MA in Reading and Literacy (preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based literacy practices aligned to the Science of Reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension)
- Strong understanding of Michigan’s early literacy law and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies that engage all students
- Commitment to life-long learning
INTERVENTION SPECIALISTS
- Plan, prepare and deliver activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students
- Be flexible, resourceful, innovative and can effectively manage t he design and execution of learning experiences, both formal and informal, that are very responsive to the needs of students and the context in which learning is taking place
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development, encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
- Provide instructional interventions (which reflect current best practices)through small flexible group instruction
- Instructional emphasis will be determined through analysis of available assessment data aligned with classroom instruction, and coordinated with the building’s MTSS plans
- Allocation of time will be determined according to student academic needs
- Intervention Specialists may only provide instructional support in areas in which they are Highly Qualified
- Acquire and maintain required grant documentation as requested by the Instructional Services and State & Federal Programs Departments
- Other duties as assigned, compliant with funding sources.
- Direction will be provided through the Instructional Services Department and the Building Administrator
