POSITION: Visitor Center Specialist
REPORTS TO: President, Indian River County Chamber of Commerce
HOURS: 9:00AM - 4:00PM Monday through Friday (Full Time)
SUMMARY: The Visitor Center Specialist is the first point of contact at the Indian River County Chamber. They are responsible for answering general inquiries via phone and email, as well as keeping the Indian River County Chamber visitors’ area stocked and organized. In addition to their front desk responsibilities, the Visitor Center Specialist also provides direct support to the Chamber staff in various areas including information distribution, scheduling meetings, handling incoming phone calls, keeping stock of printed materials, mailings and distribution of requests for Tourism Materials, and others.
KEY ATTRIBUTES
· Knowledge of the Indian River County area, particularly relating to Visitor attractions i.e. restaurants, hotels, & activities.
· Experience with graphic design/ marketing materials: Social media content, weekly newsletters, design in Canva.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Serve as the main point of contact agent of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center. Greet all visitors and accept all incoming phone calls.
· Maintain and keep stocked the Visitor Information Center and all materials.
· Assist potential new Chamber members with information about Chamber membership.
· Offer all visitors materials: tourism information, community information, newcomer information, etc.
· Maintain and monitor Chamber general email and respond to requests as needed.
· Maintain and oversee a neat office space which includes the lobby, front desk, and copier/postage area. Handle all office and cleaning supply orders as needed for front area and any staff needs.
· Check the Post Office box, and deliver any outgoing mail every afternoon. Distribute received mail and packages in appropriate staff mailboxes.
· Assist Tourism Department with social media posts, website updates, and any publicity needs.
· Manage building vendors and scheduling of any maintenance issues needed.
· Selling of Tourism Merchandise and assistance in ordering additional supplies and new materials as requested by Tourism Director.
- Fill Visitor Guide requests using Excel and report data to Tourism department.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Shows initiative in learning about all areas of the Chamber and managing additional projects as needed.
· Keeps the Director of Tourism and appropriate staff informed on all matters relating to the Chamber and Tourism Requests.
· Maintains a positive attitude with staff, members, Chamber Board Members, and visitors. Works as a team player to foster the overall success of the Chamber.
· Ability to assist in Chamber of Commerce Events and attend as needed. Including but not limited to; set-up, delivery, planning, day of event assistance.
· Experience in Website Management
· Experience in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Google Platforms
· Experience in handling office equipment (computers, copiers, postage machines, multiple phone line system, etc.)
OTHER INFO:
· Full Time, Hourly Position, up to 1 hour for lunch each day
· M-Th 9am – 4pm; Fr 9am – 3pm
· 12 Paid Holidays
