Role Description
Indian River Charter High School is seeking a dedicated IT Support Specialist to join our team. This role is 100% focused on providing comprehensive technical support for students, staff, and overall school operations. The ideal candidate will be a skilled problem-solver with a strong background in desktop support and infrastructure maintenance. - System Monitoring: Proactively monitor internal systems and network infrastructure to ensure all components are fully functional and to minimize downtime for school operations.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for students (ChromeOS devices) and staff (Windows/Mac workstations), troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Ticket Management & Documentation: Manage the full lifecycle of support requests using the ticketing system (Incident IQ), including logging, prioritizing, resolving, and documenting technical issues.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Assist in maintaining school technology infrastructure, including Wi-Fi networks, school-issued devices, and classroom technology.
- System & Software Management: Manage Google Workspace for Education, Active Directory, Microsoft Office, and other instructional software.
- Instructional Integration: Support the integration of technology into the classroom by assisting teachers with educational software, digital assessments, and online learning platforms.
- Account & Device Management: Oversee staff and student technology accounts, password resets, and general device management.
- AV & Classroom Tech: Assist with the setup and maintenance of classroom projectors, interactive displays, and audio-visual equipment.
- Inventory & Upgrades: Maintain inventory of technology equipment, recommending upgrades and purchases as needed.
Training: Train staff and students on basic troubleshooting and best practices for school technology use.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, OR 4 years of equivalent professional work experience in the field of desktop support.
- Platform Proficiency: Proven experience administering Active Directory and Google Workspace.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in supporting and troubleshooting a mixed-OS environment (Windows, Chrome OS, and Mac OS), including hardware, software, and network issues.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in networking and network maintenance.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for task automation.
- Familiarity with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of IT issues independently.
- Collaboration: Ability to work independently while also collaborating with teachers, students, and administrators.
