JOB DESCRIPTION: Preschool Teacher
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing developmentally appropriate instruction to preschool students, supporting growth in cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development in alignment with District curriculum and early childhood standards.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Preschool Teacher:
- Plans and prepares developmentally appropriate classroom instruction. *
- Has and maintains knowledge of early childhood education and child development (birth through age 8) and teaches to District objectives and/or student IEP’s. *
- Personalizes instruction to account for individual developmental levels, learning styles, and student needs. *
- Provides instruction using a variety of developmentally appropriate techniques, including play-based learning, hands-on activities, and structured learning experiences. *
- Utilizes appropriate early childhood assessment strategies to monitor developmental progress and learning. *
- Provides equity in the classroom by providing equal opportunity for students regardless of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, background, and abilities. *
- Communicates with and maintains positive relationships with students and parents/guardians. *
- Supports student social-emotional development, including self-regulation, peer interaction, and independence. *
- Manages student behavior using developmentally appropriate behavior support strategies. *
- Organizes the classroom to promote learning, exploration, and student safety, and ensures classroom equipment is used in a safe manner. *
- Responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment by enforcing school rules in hallways, on school grounds, in other school areas away from the classroom, and on school-sponsored trips. *
- Collaborates with special education staff, therapists, and other service providers to support students with identified needs. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations, coursework, workshops, and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees, taskforces, in-depth studies, or councils). *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to use effective communication skills; strong knowledge of early childhood pedagogy and child development; understanding of education law and regulations; ability to use time effectively; strong organizational skills; ability to maintain positive and collaborative relationships with staff and families; knowledge of developmental milestones in young children; ability to manage a classroom using developmentally appropriate practices; ability to observe, assess, and respond to student needs; and ability to support social-emotional development.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree; certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in Early Childhood (Birth–Age 5) or Early Childhood (Birth–Age 8).
Work Experience: Experience working with preschool or early childhood students is preferred.

Salary : $54,000 - $85,796
