The Development Technician role for Indian Motorcycle is based in Phoenix, Arizona and is ideal for a technician who loves motorcycles and thrives in a hands-on development environment. This role will support engine calibration activity, mileage accumulation, conducting tests within the shop, on the road and at nearby proving grounds, maintain the facility which includes managing day-to-day operations. Seeking a technician that has a wide range of experiences or is willing and eager to learn new skills and has a passion for optimizing the motorcycle riding experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support the engine calibration team with calibration tasks and ride-based driveability evaluations
· Manage mileage and test fleet as needed for service, maintenance, and updates
· Instrument motorcycles with data loggers and sensors
· Ride vehicles for testing / mileage accumulation
· Support engineering activities and trips such as calibration trips, drivability reviews, suspension development and infotainment evaluation.
· Conduct assigned tests on vehicles using existing procedures and customer requests
· Be creative and effective in the development of new or improved products
· Utilize data acquisition loggers to fulfill test requests and/or issue resolution
· Analyze data and report back to engineering team
· Keep good records and write concise test reports for tests conducted
· Provide feedback to the team for issue resolution and improvements
· Maintain strict confidentiality
· Load and unload trucks with forklift
· Maintain a clean, safe work area and meet OSHA requirements
· Good self-starter, willing to work overtime as needed
· Needs to be ambitious, accurate and dependable
· Able to communicate professionally and drive project to timely completion
· Perform other miscellaneous duties as required
· Travel up to 15% to other test facilities and to the Product Development facility in MN
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
· High school diploma required
· 2-Year degree in technical field preferred
· 2 Years of work at a dealership preferred
· 3 Years of mechanic or technician experience preferred
· Basic computer skills required
· Valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement and minimum of 3 years motorcycle riding experience required
· High level vehicle driving skills (race experience preferred)
· Strong mechanical aptitude
· Power sports experience
· Data acquisition & diagnostic tool experience preferred
