Duties: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Receive and review prescriptions or refill requests. Select appropriate medication i.e. right drug, strength, formulation. Identify discrepancies and communicate with a pharmacist to clarify.
• Accurately perform pharmaceutical and chemical calculations to prepare medications.
• Utilize pharmacy equipment to accurately weigh, measure, and pack medications.
• Fill and deliver controlled substances according to department policies and procedures.
• Prepare, package, and label pharmaceuticals according to regulations and pharmacy policies/procedures.
• Compound medications and sterile or nonsterile pharmaceuticals in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Determine refill amount, pull, and stocks automated dispensing machines (ADC's).
• Identify and pull expired medications per pharmacy policy.
• Perform inventory of pharmacy medications and supplies to maintain adequate stock to dispense medications needed by patients.
• Complete documentation required by regulations and pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Maintain medication security at all times.
• Perform medroom inspections.
• Respond to routine inquiries from physicians, nurses and other staff within scope of practice.
• Identify, report, and help resolve system issues and/ or other items in need of repair such as submitting a ticket or calling a vendor.
• Participate in departmental orientation, training and quality assurance programs.
• Participate in department and hospital educational programs to maintain skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor.
• Perform pharmacy clerk and technician I functions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
• At least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma
• Current and active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License in Arizona
• Current and active Pharmacy technician certification (PTCB or EXCPT)
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferred
