The MD/DO Child Psychiatrist will be responsible for providing care to Child & Adolescent patients through direct and/or consultation services in consultation with a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Job Announcement Flyer: Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist 12_2023.pdf [pdf - 10410.15 KB] Duties: CLINICAL CARE & TREATMENT MANAGEMENT: Perform initial psychiatric assessments and comprehensive history and physical examinations of patients. Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic mental illnesses in children and adolescent patients. Develop individualized treatment plans and implement them through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy), hospitalization, and/or medication management. Prescribe psychotropic medications and supervise medication maintenance by evaluating the patient's response to drug therapy and determining the continuing medication regimen in consultation with the interdisciplinary team. Perform rounding on admitted patients for on-going medication management at least twice a week and/or daily or as needed depending on the patient's plan of care needs. Provide supportive therapy, counseling, and guidance to individuals, families, and groups. Order various diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory, neurological, and psychological tests). Provide basic medical care and preventive services, including guidance in nutrition, common illnesses, accidents, growth, and development. Provide nursing-related functions such as measurement and interpretation of vital signs, lab results, and administration of intra-venous medications, and monitor the patient's response to drug therapy. COLLABORATION, CONSULTATION, COORDINATION & ADMINISTRATION: Provide consultation services and coordination of clinical care with the multi-disciplinary treatment team and communicate with other staff to ensure coordination and follow-through for the child patient who may also be receiving primary care services. Team Participation: Participate in treatment and discharge planning meetings, inter-disciplinary meetings, medical staff meetings, and other professional committees. QAPI: Participate in Quality Assurance Improvement Performance (QAPI) review processes. On-Call: Be available for stand-by, call back, and on-call rotation schedule when needed for crisis or any other psychiatric needs in the adolescent care unit (ACU) as assigned by the Chief of Behavioral Health Services. Supervision: When necessary, supervise Physician Assistant (PA), Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP), and/or students and/or residents. Qualifications: EXPERIENCE: At least one year of experience in psychiatric care in an inpatient or outpatient setting as a resident or staff physician. EDUCATION: **Completion of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy (MD/DO) from an accredited University. **Completion of an accredited-ACGME residency program in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry and/or Adult Psychiatry. LICENSURE: **Must be Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). **Must hold a current license to practice in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. **Must have a current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License. **CPR/First Aid certified.
