The CNC Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and servicing INDEX machines. This position provides technical expertise while delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. The technician works independently in the field while collaborating with internal departments to resolve technical issues and support customer success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CNC control system issues on machine tools at customer sites.
- Perform machine installations, commissioning, inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, machine setups, and operational testing
- Develop and maintain a high level of technical proficiency across multiple machine product lines, continually expanding product knowledge and technical capabilities.
- Disassemble defective components and install, adjust, align, and test repaired or replacement parts in accordance with INDEX quality and service standards.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical and electronic components including wiring, transformers, motors, sensors, switches, and control devices.
- Install, diagnose, and repair hydraulic, coolant, lubrication, and pneumatic systems associated with CNC machine operation.
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and preventive maintenance of machine components including bearings, gears, shafts, and other mechanical assemblies.
- Provide customers with technical support, operational guidance, and basic machine training following installations or service activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of CNC machine tool operation and maintenance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 80% nationally
