The DBA will perform and support data modeling, database administration and data management activities. The DBA will work as part of a project team of data engineers, Cloud Architects, analysts, and DevSecOps Engineers developers to support a large data warehouse at a federal agency.
Responsibilities
- Database administration activities such as user access and setup, DDL deployment, analysis for performance tuning, supporting RBAC and RCLS design and development, etc.
- Assist data engineers to efficiently interface between different databases within the AWS environment.
- Work with stakeholders on Cost optimization of database resources
- Troubleshoot database access and performance issues
- Work with security personnel to implement platform and data security and access control protocols
- Work with DevSecOps personnel to implement code pipelines to automate database changes
- Perform Database engine version upgrades and maintain optimal patching levels
Qualifications
- US citizen or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years. Must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and pass a government Public Trust background
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or relevant discipline required
- Ability to obtain Public Trust level clearance.
- 8 years of overall work experience
- Prior hands-on database administration experience is required. PostgreSQL experience preferred. Will consider other databases such as Snowflake, Teradata or Oracle
- Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, performance analysis, and sizing and cost optimization is needed for storing structured and semi-structured(JSON) datasets.
- Experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS is preferred
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and passion for continuous learning
