Test Technician for Wheel Test Lab

Independent Test Services (ITS) is a wheel test facility serving OEM’s, wheel suppliers, and aftermarket companies around the world. We perform structural evaluation of passenger car and light truck wheels using heavy duty equipment that simulates road conditions. We refurbish and manufacture wheel test equipment as well. We are a small family business that's been around for 25 years looking for long term employees that will work well in a collaborative atmosphere where cross training and resourcefulness is a must. As a niche industry we know very few people have wheel test experience so we offer extensive on-the job training and seek to find coachable personnel with relevant mechanical aptitude. Candidate should feel free to supply experience, both professional and personal, that displays their technical and practical skills.

Test Technician Duties:

• Responsible for setting up and running tests
• Responsible for reading and understanding test specifications
• Responsible for evaluating test results
• Responsible for recording and reporting data from test results
• Responsible for confirming test requests and communicating daily with customers and fellow staff members
• Must be able to lift a 50-70 lb wheel-tire assembly multiple times a day
• Candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in maintenance or repair or equivalent mechanical aptitude.

Requirements:

• Candidate should be able to troubleshoot and work independently
• The ability to communicate technical information and concepts orally and in written form.
• Should be experienced with machine shop practices and use of tool room equipment
• Communicate with other team members to finish various projects effectively
• Arrive at work on time and with a good attitude
• Be open to learning and performing new tasks as they arise
• Candidate should have a knowledgeable experience with computer and various applications (Word, Excel, and Google).
• Using shop equipment such as lifts, torque wrenches, air pressure gages, diagnostic equipment, etc.. with confidence and in accordance with all safety procedures
• Experience reading engineering specifications is a plus
• No Managerial Duties necessary
• Some janitorial work will be required
• Must be able to pass a background check, reference check, and drug screen
• Smokers need not apply
• Occasional weekend shifts will be required
• Overtime not required but welcomed when extra busy (paid at 1.5x rate per 40 hour work week)
