Job Details
The Production Technician is a is a versatile and skilled professional responsible for a wide range of tasks in the optical laboratory. This role combines various responsibilities, such as lens preparation, lens inventory, equipment operation, equipment maintenance, quality control, troubleshooting, and general support to ensure the efficient operation of the optical lab. The Production Tech is expected to work collaboratively with other team members to meet production goals and maintain high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Cutting and shaping lenses according to prescription specifications using automated and manual equipment.
· Inspecting lenses for defects and ensuring they meet quality standards.
· Routine maintenance and calibration of optical machinery.
· Keep production flow consistent by monitoring inputs and process flow.
· Pull lenses as needed to meet production needs and maintain constant flow in Surface.
· Accurately record breakages and prioritize those jobs back into process.
Equipment Operation
· Operate equipment to maximize effective capacity every hour.
· Reset errors as they arise to exploit for continuous flow.
· Follow all start up and shut down procedure properly.
· Keep machines clean.
· Top all fluids off as necessary.
· Inform maintenance when issues arise with equipment.
Quality Control
· Conduct thorough inspections of coated lenses, to identify defects
· Clean lenses by SOP and handle lens with care to prevent breakage.
Qualifications
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional optical technician training or certification is a plus.
· Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Optical Lab Technician.
· Technical Skills: Ability to insert lenses into multiple frame styles, measure and verify optical measurements, inspect lenses for cosmetic standards, and read manual and automatic lensometers.
· Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination while working with lenses or operating machinery.
· Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
· Organizational Skills: Excellent organization and time-management skills to ensure efficient workflow.
· Quality-Oriented: Commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards in all aspects of the job.
