Job Title and Overview Caregiver life coach Part time Position: 10-25 hours weekly Caregiver Life Coach, The ideal candidate is a highly organized and motivated professional that will support the client in building and maintaining independent life skills such as: Socializing, Occupational, Communication, and Self awareness. The candidate must be comfortable working with a young adult that is 28 years of age and her family members and willing to jump in and try new and different activities. Individuals interested in the position must be able to complete the following responsibilities: Essential Job Functions Sign language preferred and or willing to learn. Basic Technology skills: emails, digital documentation, app savvy. Must be able to problem solve and make judgment calls that are in the best interest for the client. Must be able to take initiative to complete responsibilities and work together as a team. Assist in daily living skills that include morning and night time routines (i.e. showering, cooking, laundry) Provide support and creative suggestions that are age appropriate for the client to participate in the community Schedule appointments, take notes and communicate clients needs at the appointments. Hold the client accountable for completing tasks, following through with engagements, and having the client communicate their feelings. Problem solving skills in high stress situations when the client is throwing a tantrum and causing a scene in the community. Fast Problem-Solving skills for unpredictable situations such as rerouting the day's activities to join family and friends for events. Creating opportunities for the client to socialize with friends and the community. The candidate will be placed in situations that are uncomfortable and at times “awkward” situations. It is the candidates duty to follow through with the clients and block out the community around them. Education and Experience Must be over 26 years of age and pass a background check. Background in working with children is ideal as the client has a childlike personality. Someone who has a high tolerance for patience. Must have previous caregiving experience and or is comfortable with showering, restroom assistance, incontinence accidents, personal care and grooming. High school completion/ Diploma 3-5 years Experience working with individuals with special needs; preferably young adults Valid Driver's license and clean driving record. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary $20- $22/hour Sick time and 1 week vacation is offered after the first year of working. Housing and transportation are included for out of state/country employment. Working Conditions Working Conditions The staff member will work in the clients home and out in the community. The staff member is required to engage in physical activities with the client ex. biking , canoeing, walking etc. The staff member will work one on one with the client and will join in community events, plan social networking events for the client to attend and socialize with family. Shifts consist anywhere between 4-6-8- hour days. Staff is responsible for writing notes on a daily basis along with completing paperwork such as time sheets, mileage, behavioral tracking. The staff member will also have to complete accurate shift changes and report a summary of the completed shift. Monthly team meetings are a requirement and will discuss the clients progress and concerns. Professional and personal goal development will be required during the duration of the employment. Travel opportunities Traveling is available for the position 4 months out of the year in Alaska where housing, transportation and utilities will be provided. Other travel out of the country can occur 1-3 times a year at various times. An 30 hour training course with a staff supervisor will be provided along with a 10 hour training in safety protocol and orientation that includes: Training manual, training videos, and materials will be provided. Failure to uphold duties and responsibilities will result in corrective action and placed on a 30 day probation period where the staff member can be terminated for insubordination. Placing the client at risk in unsafe situations will result in immediate termination.
