Senior Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in the mining, manufacturing, or construction industries. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing critical financial insights to support decision-making. This role requires in-depth knowledge of industry practices, cost accounting, and financial analysis to maintain the company's financial health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
• Cost Accounting: Oversee and maintain the cost accounting system, analyzing production costs, inventory, and variances to optimize efficiency and profitability.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets and forecasts and monitor financial performance against these targets.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
• Compliance and Auditing: Ensure adherence to GAAP, IFRS, or relevant accounting standards, and coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Reconciliations: Perform regular account reconciliations and ensure all financial data aligns with company records.
• Internal Controls: Strengthen and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks and protect company assets.
• Collaboration: Work closely with operations, procurement, and other departments to align financial strategies with business goals.
• ERP Systems Management: Utilize and enhance the ERP system for financial reporting and accounting processes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: Minimum of [5-7] years of accounting experience, with at least [2-3] years in the manufacturing or mining industry.
• Knowledge Base: Comprehensive understanding of cost accounting, financial reporting standards, and industry-specific financial practices.
• Analytical Skills: High level of analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with precision and meet deadlines under pressure.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications preferred.

• CPA, CMA

HARDWARE/SOFTWARE SKILLS 

• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel

• Primarily operates in an office environment with standard office equipment.
