General Definition of Work
The teacher high school CTE adobe pathways, under moderate supervision, performs instructional work with limited decision-making discretion providing leadership in the educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. The teacher supervises, monitors, and evaluates students while developing lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met. Employee performs school-based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the principal.

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures

- Assist school administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
- Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards and expectations for all students
- Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program with regards to content specific elements of the field including, but not limited to the Adobe products, visual design, video design and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic goals by creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students
- Plan, prepare and deliver educations lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
- Demonstrate differentiated methods of instruction that effectively address individual student educational goals and needs
- Manage inventory control, including supplies, equipment, and tools
- Teaches knowledge and understanding of careers in Adobe
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in Adobe activities and modifies instructional methods to fit students’ individual needs
- Coordinate CTE Student Organization (CTSO) activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
- Works with staff and post-secondary institutions to develop and maintain career pathways, which prepare students for apprenticeship, licensure, community college, or university degree programs
- Demonstrates an understanding of, and leads student experiences in, related student organizations
- Contributes to the mission of the school by striving to attain school improvement plan and career completer goals
- Communicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and Meets with students and parents
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and other appropriate activities in furtherance of curriculum goals
- Provide supervision of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
- Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods
- Create a classroom environment that provides for student engagement in the learning process and enables students to achieve learning objectives
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in accordance with goals established by the district and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students
- Establish learning objectives based on student needs, requirements of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), Standard Course of Study, and district curriculum framework
- Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request
- Diagnose the learning challenges of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of central office staff as required. Maintain accurate records as required for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans
- Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities and limited English proficiencies
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
- Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and persevere through challenges
- Use appropriate techniques and strategies which promote critical, creative, and evaluative thinking capabilities of students
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to assess students’ progress
- Assign and grade classwork and homework
- Act as test administrator for the North Carolina Test Program and fulfill requirements as designated in the North Carolina School Test Coordinator’s Handbook, the Proctor’s Guide for the North Carolina Testing Program, and the North Carolina State Board of Education Policy GCS-A-010
- Observe and assess students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical needs on a regular basis
- Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, determine priorities and resource needs, and encourage parent involvement. Confer with parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators to resolve students’ behavioral and academic challenges
- Prepare and implement enrichment programs and remediation
- Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) and staff meetings for data analysis and instructional planning
- Participate in professional development focused on acquiring and improving skills and knowledge
- Perform safety functions/drills to maintain a safe instructional Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of the Adobe pathway course curriculum, effective instructional techniques, instructional materials, and equipment
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of databases, the Internet, spreadsheets, word processing, and related applications
- Comprehensive knowledge of how to utilize appropriate data and information to make instructional decisions for students
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of various learning styles, curriculum development and program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
- Skilled in preparing and implementing lesson plans and instructing students
- Skilled in communication, both verbal and written
- Skilled in supervising students and managing behavior
- Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment, or software related to instructional practice and business needs

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related area required
- Valid CTE teaching certification – 740,760,765,820,822,18827,18831,74098 or eligible for the following certifications:
- Residency License(s):
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area with a minimum 7 GPA and
- 24 credit hours in the content area or
- Passing the NC SBE Licensure Area Exam and
- Completion of NCSBE Pre-service Requirements
- CTE Restricted License(s):
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area
- Two years of work-related experience and
- NCSBE approved specialty area exam
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Residency License(s):

- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or ability to provide own transportation
