This position serves as the first contact between the physician office and the patient. Responsible for performing patient check-in and check-out assignments, including obtaining patient information and answering phones. Schedules patient appointments. Performs follow-up patient calls.

Minimum:  High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum:   None
Preferred:  Prior experience in a physician’s office or in a customer service related field.

I. Specific Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Greets patients upon entry to the offices. Performs check in duties including all necessary paperwork. Collects co-pays as necessary.
  • Obtains authorizations and referrals for testing and medications.
  • Schedules follow up appointments and ancillary testing if required.
  • Responsible for patient follow up communication. Prepares and updates charts.
  • Monitors patient waiting areas with an awareness of housekeeping and maintenance issues to maintain a neat, clean waiting room.
