Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Support residents with mobility using patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, reporting findings to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Maintain accurate care plans, document patient progress, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client privacy.
- Help clients with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper timing and dosage.
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and social engagement to enhance residents’ quality of life.
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care practices.
- Proficiency in cleaning duties to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for clients.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism.
- Ability to operate medical equipment like Hoyer lifts, blood pressure monitors, and other patient monitoring devices.
- Familiarity with care plans, medication administration protocols, and resident’s rights regulations.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or hospice care experience are a plus.
