What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchandising Buyer position at Independence Care?
Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining cost, retails, and promotional attributes for centrally managed, computer based, Retail and .COM Pricing. Responsible for assisting the Category Manager’s on merchandise related tasks, including but not limited to: new item set up, item maintenance, cost and price updates. Responsible for providing exceptional support and service to our valued customer base, store personnel, Merchandising team, .COM team and cross functional partners.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the execution of cost and retail pricing in the system.
- Manage pricing spreadsheets and information.
- Communicate price updates to cross functional partners as necessary.
- Ensure new items are set up appropriately
- Maintain all item specific data including, but not limited to: cost, retail (s), MFG #, Camping World #, descriptions, attributes, hierarchy, case/inner packs.
- Discuss pricing opportunities with Director of Merchandising Operations and/or Category Manager.
- Manage and/or assist in promotional, discount, advertising pricing
- Assist with POD reporting as requested
- Assist in managing the life cycle of items, from assortment planning to discontinued
- Manage and update PIM
- Vendor set up and maintenance, collecting the required documentation from vendor and communicating to the vendor set up team (Accounting and EDI teams)
- Assist in enforcing Vendor Compliance
- Project assistance on process and system improvements for Merchandising, Inventory, Planning, etc. as needed.
- Assisting in other duties as assigned.
- MS will participate in vendor calls and meetings with their category managers
- MS is an additional point of contact for vendors and assist with questions and issues.
- MSs sometimes work with their buyers on in-store projects
- Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.
- Works independently and in a team environment
- Escalates issues as needed
- Additional tasks and duties as requested
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Retail Merchandising Field of Study
- 1 -- 2 years of applicable work experience in a retail setting or an internship in a similar retail business setting
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and other PC applications
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Assertive with strong initiative and willing to learn and grow in a fast paced, ever changing retail environment
- Demonstrated organizing and prioritizing skills, attention to detail, and initiative in completing tasks in a timely and reliable manner.
- Strong communication skills to support teamwork, as well as contact with vendors, merchants, leadership, retail, and all cross functional partners as necessary.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, while meeting deadlines
- Ability to work effectively and creatively within a team environment or independently
- Self-motivated
