What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community-Based Caregiver (DSP) position at Independence Association?
Are you a caregiver interested in supporting some fantastic adults at a variety of local community activities as well as in their own homes or apartments? Our Community Vision team will train you on how to work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in our community and enjoy attending community events. In addition to accompanying adults to community events, you will also work with them in their individual homes, helping them to become more competent with their activities of daily living.
Social opportunities are a natural part of the Community Vision program at Independence Association. Community integrated activities link the people we support with community members to build healthy relationships and achieve the highest level of independence.
Some past community activities: Topsham Fair, Seadogs Games, art shows, car shows, hikes, musicals, picnics, and movie nights.
We are currently looking for full time workers, 8-hour shifts, 5 days/week (Monday-Friday). Occasional week nights may be worked for special activities, and weekday schedule can then be flexed.
PAY: $18.25 - $20.75/hour *WE PAY WEEKLY!

Requirements
- Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must be able to take courses to become certified as a Direct Support Professional. Paid training is provided.
- Must be good with people, outgoing, enjoy being in the community, who can work both independently and as a team player.
- Must be comfortable, or willing to learn how to support, individuals with various levels of disability in a variety of different settings.
