What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information & Referral / Intake Specialist position at Independence Associates, Inc.?
SUMMARY: The I&R/Intake Specialist receives communications from individuals and community partners seeking disability-related services, and provides resources and referrals to Independence Associates programs.
The idea candidate is a self-starter with excellent active listening skills combined with attention to detail and accuracy in data collection. Interest in researching and maintaining current information on programs and services is essential. This position reports to and works closely with the Independent Living Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
· Provide information and referral (I&R) services by phone, email, or USPS
· Communicate regularly with the IL Program Manager regarding new consumers eligible for IA services
· Maintain call log, database, and workshop signup spreadsheets
· Research and share current resources with IA staff
· Develop a deep understanding of IA’s mission, programs, and service delivery methods
· Maintain strict confidentiality and professional behavior with consumers
· Assist with housing workshops and other in-house programs as requested
· Participate in staff meetings, community outreach, and learning opportunities
Qualifications:
· Excellent customer service skills, including in emotionally charged situations
· Attention to detail/excellent organizational skills
· Excellent problem-solving, judgment, and facilitative communication skills
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, basic computer abilities
· Strong interpersonal, analytic, and communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
· Ability to initiate research activities and learning opportunities in downtime
