Operator I | Operator II | Operator III

Location: Fort Benton, MT

Work Schedule: This facility operates 7 days a week, offering the following shifts.

  • Weekday: Monday-Wednesday 7:00am-7:30pm, Thursday 7:00am-11:00am
  • Weekend: Thursday 11:00am - 3:00pm, Friday-Sunday 7:00am-7:30pm
  • Night: Monday-Wednesday 7:00pm-7:30am, Thursday 3:00pm-7:00pm

Pay: This is a full-time, hourly position with a wage range of $20.00 - $24.00 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and skill level. Applicable shift differentials will be applied for employees working weekend and night shifts.

Position Overview

The Operator positions report to the Plant and or Shift Supervisor and perform duties in an industrial hemp processing facility. Responsibilities vary by position level and may include equipment operation and inspection, set-up/start-up, monitoring, troubleshooting, quality checks, material handling, packaging, facility cleaning and maintenance, and operation of forklifts and other equipment. Safety, product quality, efficient operation, teamwork, and continued development of production skills are priorities across all three levels.

Core Duties And Responsibilities - All Levels

  • Prioritize and maintain safe working practices and a safe working environment.
  • Follow necessary GMP And SOP policies.
  • Cleaning facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Maintain work areas, aisles, and grounds in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Loading and unloading materials.
  • Package materials.
  • Monitor equipment and production lines for proper functionality and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery as needed and within the scope of the position.
  • Work closely with all team members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new jobs and cross-train at different production stations within the facility.

Education And Experience - All Levels

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training a plus.
  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment and forklifts a plus.
  • Basic understanding of computers and math comprehension.
  • Prior manufacturing (grain or food processing) or agriculture experience a plus.

Required Skills And Abilities - All Levels

  • Verbal and written communication.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem solving and proactive critical thinking.
  • Ability to exhibit good work habits, including attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to climb stairs; lift, bend, kneel and stand for long periods; work in confined spaces and at heights; and work in dusty environments and hot and cold temperatures.

Operator I

Position Description: Operator I performs hands-on production duties that include operating and inspecting production facility equipment, unloading trucks, operating a forklift and other equipment, packaging and palletizing products, and completing general facility and grounds cleaning and maintenance. The position works closely with Operators II and III and supervisors while developing physical and technical skill sets.

Level-Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect production facility equipment as assigned.
  • Safely operate various types of lift equipment and other equipment as certified.
  • Accept and perform tasks assigned within specified timelines while gaining physical and technical skills.
  • Perform routine production equipment maintenance under Operator II and Operator III guidance.
  • Work closely with Operator II, Operator III, and supervisors.

Operator II

Position Description: Operator II is responsible for set-up/start-up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, documenting, and reporting issues on plant equipment. Operator II adjusts equipment to support maximum efficiency while keeping safety and quality a priority and continues training across production line positions and tasks.

Level-Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up/start-up, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and reporting of issues on plant equipment.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure proper functionality and efficient operation.
  • Conduct quality checks and collect product samples.
  • Safely operate heavy and aerial equipment such as forklift, skid-steer, wheel loader, grapple, telehandler, and scissor lift.
  • Understand and operate processing equipment with or without assistance as directed.
  • Train to learn each position/task of the production line.
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment as required.

Level-Specific Education And Experience

  • 1 year of industry experience or equivalent training preferred.

Operator III

Position Description: Operator III is responsible for set-up/start-up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, documenting, and reporting issues on plant equipment. Operator III adjusts equipment to support maximum efficiency while keeping safety and quality a priority and continues training across production line positions and tasks.

Level-Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up/start-up, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and reporting of issues on plant equipment.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure proper functionality and efficient operation while maintaining safety and product quality priorities.
  • Conduct quality checks and collect product samples.
  • Safely operate heavy and aerial equipment such as forklift, skid-steer, wheel loader, grapple, telehandler, and scissor lift.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of electrical, confined space, and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of and ability to operate processing equipment and mobile equipment within or outside the facility.
  • Perform routine maintenance to production equipment as needed.
  • Act as lead when needed.
  • Assist in on-the-job training with Operator I and Operator II employees.

Level-Specific Education And Experience

  • 2 years of industry experience or equivalent training preferred.
