Job Title: Quality Technician I
Location: 60 Plant Ave, Hauppauge, NY 11788, USA
Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:30 PM - Midnight
Pay: $18.50 per hour
Job Summary:
The Quality Technician I plays a key role in supporting quality assurance (QA) activities to ensure that nonconforming products are identified and prevented from being shipped to customers. This position involves conducting inspections, audits, and participating in process improvements to sustain and enhance product quality. The technician will collaborate with various teams to investigate nonconforming materials, implement new product quality plans, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Product Quality Audits & Inspections:
Work with the QA team to perform audits and inspections to ensure product quality aligns with Zebra's quality-assurance processes.
- Nonconforming Materials Investigation:
Assist in identifying, documenting, and investigating nonconforming materials and products. Report findings to Zebra’s authorized vendors as appropriate for corrective action.
- Collaboration:
Engage with management, team members, and cross-functional departments to resolve complex quality issues as needed. Provide input and assistance in solving quality-related challenges.
- New Product Quality Plan Support:
Contribute to the implementation and execution of quality plans for new products. Ensure all new products meet established quality standards prior to release.
- ISO 9001 QMS Compliance:
Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) by adhering to its principles, assisting in audits, and ensuring processes align with its standards.
- Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, investigations, and quality-related activities. Ensure all documentation is completed timely and according to company procedures.
- Continuous Improvement:
Assist in driving process improvements to maintain and enhance product quality and reduce nonconformance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education:
Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
Preferred: 0-3 years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to learn technical information and apply it to daily tasks.
- Proficient in written and verbal English communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Demonstrates strong professional work behaviors such as attendance, teamwork, and time management.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or production environment.
- May require standing, walking, or handling physical materials for extended periods.
- Compliance with safety standards and protective equipment is expected.
