What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victim Advocate position at InCourage?
We're looking for 1 part-time Advocate to work every other Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours each day. There are opportunities to pick up extra shifts when other staff is on vacation or sick. This is a great opportunity for those looking to make some extra money or those looking to work weekends.
Starting $13.75 - $15.00 per hour, based on experience.
This position provides direct services to sheltered and non-sheltered domestic violence and sexual assault victims and their families. Services include: a 24 hour crisis line; safe shelter; individual supportive counseling; information and referral; legal, medical, educational, financial and other personal advocacy; emergency transportation to and from shelter; and assistance with securing educational arrangements for sheltered children. Services are client-driven and strength-based.
This position includes some housekeeping, organizing and processing donations, maintaining client files, and some computer work.
Qualifications
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
Experience working in a residential facility or with family abuse issues.
Must have ability to handle multiple situations simultaneously, attend to details and problem solve
Ability to help individuals explore options and strategies and problem solve their situations
Ability to maintain confidentiality and be nonjudgmental.
Bilingual a plus!
