Inclusive Support Services NW LLC is seeking a compassionate and experienced Life Skills Specialist – Behavior Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential stabilization and life skills support services that empower individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives.
This position includes providing Stabilization-Life Skills (formerly Specialized Habilitation) and Stabilization-Staff and Family Consultation services with a strong focus on person-centered, evidence-based approaches.
Key Responsibilities
Life Skills Services (Stand-Alone & Stabilization)
- Support individuals in developing:
- Self-empowerment and self-advocacy
- Safety awareness and emotional regulation
- Interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Coping strategies for stress and behavioral challenges
- Adaptive daily living skills for increased independence
Staff & Family Consultation (Stand-Alone & Stabilization)
- Provide direct consultation to clients, families, and caregivers in areas such as:
- Health and medication monitoring
- Parenting strategies and family education
- Augmentative communication systems
- Crisis planning and behavioral support strategies
- Environmental modifications to promote safety and accessibility
- Assistive technology and adaptive equipment recommendations
Essential Functions
- Build trusting relationships with clients and their support networks
- Utilize SMART goals to support individualized progress
- Develop and implement visual aids and communication tools
- Apply proactive and reactive behavioral strategies, functional analysis, and prompt fading techniques
- Provide mentorship and training to entry-level clinicians
- Accurately complete and submit required documentation in compliance with DDA standards
- Remain calm and resourceful in crisis situations, ensuring safety and effective intervention
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including case managers, social workers, and medical professionals
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Child Development, Nursing, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with DDA standards and service delivery models
Preferred:
- Previous work providing services under DDA-funded programs:
- Life Skills (Specialized Habilitation)
- Staff and Family Consultation
- Crisis stabilization and de-escalation experience
Work Environment
Services are delivered in residential homes, supported living facilities, and community settings throughout Clark and Cowlitz Counties. Flexibility to travel within service areas is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical activities such as bending, squatting, and kneeling
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Effective hearing and speaking for communication
- Dexterity to operate necessary tools and equipment
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Rate: $27.00 – $33.00 per hour (DOE)
