- Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes in accordance with medical coding guidelines.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes and coordinate with third-party payers for resolution.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and health insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation for proper coding and billing accuracy.
- Monitor revenue cycle management activities, including billing, coding audits, and reconciliation of accounts receivable.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, health insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure compliance.
Skills
- Proficiency in ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding, DRG classification, and medical coding guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing, and revenue cycle management.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management related to billing and coding.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and inpatient/outpatient coding practices.
