Job Summary
Performs difficult professional and administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the City's radio communications networks, activities and services. Work involves sound engineering development, implementation and operation of digital microwave, radio, two-way radio, public safety radio communications systems and commercial communications circuits. Manages program budget.

Essential Job Functions
Manages day-to-day operation and maintenance of microwave radio and two-way radio communications services and activities.
Plans introduction of new systems and training of affected employees.
Supervises professional and technical personnel.
Performs strategic and tactical planning for County microwave radio and two-way radio needs.
Provides technical and professional consultation on microwave radio and two-way radio matters to City management staff.
Represents the City and its installation before the Federal Communication Commission and regional telecommunications planning groups; obtains regional, federal and state grants for funding projects.
Maintains currency in reference to FCC rules and regulations and their development and assure compliance.
Performs strategic planning for communications facilities in support of the City's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
Manages tower site leases and revenue reports.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school, supplemented by vocational course work in computers, electronics, or a related field.
3 years of experience in communications engineering work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Experience with Motorola radio communications two-way radio systems and devices
