JOB SUMMARY
The Project / NPI Engineer provides technical ownership of customer programs from quotation through new product introduction and production. This role ensures accurate engineering input during quoting, effective NPI execution, and smooth transition into manufacturing while serving as the primary technical interface between customers and internal teams during production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Quoting & Program Definition
- Review customer documentation for completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability
- Prepare labor estimates using standard templates
- Identify manufacturing risks, special process requirements, and cost drivers
- Support Sales and Program Management during RFQ technical reviews
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Act as the single accountable owner for assigned NPIs
- Coordinate NPI readiness across Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Supply Chain
- Define routings, work instructions, and manufacturing processes
- Evaluate products and provide DFM feedback to customers
- Support tooling, fixtures, and test readiness
- Ensure successful completion of projects by working alongside process engineering and production staff
- Track and close NPI issues to ensure stable launch
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Support early production to stabilize yield, quality, and labor performance
- Investigate and resolve engineering‑related production issues
- Initiate and/or participate in quality improvement activities utilizing various statistical methods
- Drive implementation of ECOs/ECRs
- Maintain accuracy of BOMs, routings, and work instructions
Customer & Cross-Functional Interface
- Serve as the technical point of contact for assigned programs
- Communicate engineering changes, risks, and launch status
- Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and launch discussions
SKILLS, ABILITIES, & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of electronic assembly processes (SMT, Wave, Selective, Conformal Coating, Box Build)

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, or move throughout the production floor for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for handling small electronic components
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
