Summary

IME is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior I (Survey) for the Survey Department in the Cheyenne, WY office. Responsibilities include boundary surveys, route surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and control surveys and mapping, marketing our services, prepare proposals, and project management. Work includes, but is not limited to, the following: directing, managing and supervising the daily tasks and immediate affairs of survey services. Setting survey monuments and construction stakes. Recovering survey monuments. Recording field notes. Measuring distances. Understanding and following maps. Reading construction plans. Operating surveying instruments including RTK GPS and robotic total stations (Trimble). Typically, projects are located in Wyoming; however, some travel throughout the Rocky Mountain Region is likely. Travel is dictated by our clients and projects.

Responsibilities

Typical duties will depend on the applicant’s technical and professional experience may include:

  • Ability to foster and maintain positive and effective professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, and work independently, or as part of a project team.
  • Complete tasks assigned in a timely, logical manner and exercise discretion and good judgment in accomplishing assigned tasks and goals.
  • Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and intellectual skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks to completion.
  • Under general supervision of the IME Board and Executive team, be able to effectively promote IME's services and expand clientele.
  • Become proficient with computer programs associated with Microsoft Office Suite operating systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to become proficient in the use of laboratory and field-testing equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate personnel and clients’ schedules efficiently and cost-effectively in order to meet the needs of our clients and project budgets on multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technically written material.
  • Ability and willingness to market all of IME’s services.
  • Ability to manage projects including meeting deadlines, reviewing other work, and writing proposals and technical reports using sound engineering practices.

Salary Grade- $37.40 - $46.53 (Senior I (Survey))

Travel up to 50%

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the Surveying field and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Wyoming preferred (or ability to obtain Wyoming PLS within a year)
  • 10 years of surveying experience required.
  • Proficiency in applicable software tools, including MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, and drug/alcohol test

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works outside in all weather conditions. General PPE requirements for field work should be anticipated to be OSHA HAZWOPER level D, with occasional elevation to level C. The employee occasionally works near heavy equipment and is occasionally exposed to vapors, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. The noise level on field sites is often loud; the use of hearing protection may be required for extended periods.

Pay: $37.40 - $46.53 per hour
