Medical Assistant/Scribe - Job Description
Summary:
Assisting physician in patient care, scribing patient chart notes, and performing some clinical administrative work.
Responsibilities:
Room patients:
- Take vital signs and input into system
- Complete patient intake: Review and document Reason for Visit, PFSH, ROS, and HPI
- Document patient complaints, intake, visit notes, records, orders, etc. in electronic chart
Scribe for physician during patient visits
- Ensure correct and thorough HPI is documented
- Use accurate Physical Exam Templates in documentation
- Document exam findings when possible in A/P using accurate anatomy
- Include patient discussion accurately in A/P
Prepare for and assist in procedures in a sterile environment:
- Perform blood draws
- Know correct medications and measurements needed for specific injections
- Prep injections properly using sterile technique
- Assist doctor with injections during procedure - be his second hands, know the process so you are ready for the next step before he is, and be able to remind him if a step is missed
Educate patients on exercises, follow-up care, pre- and post-op care
- Provide verbal education
- Provide appropriate print-outs and forms to patients
- Take patient calls regarding clinical/medical needs
- Document all phone calls in patient chart
- Take calls from outside providers
- Provide necessary documentation and notes for providers we have sent orders or referrals to
- Manage outgoing office orders
- Ensure prescriptions are sent out where needed
- Ensure any outgoing orders are sent to the proper provider with the proper documentation included
Administrative Tasks
- Assist front office staff as needed and serve as back-up to Front Desk with answering phones, scheduling patients, and taking payments.
- Complete other administrative tasks as requested by the physician and/or practice manager
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (or other medical certification such as CNA, EMT, ATC)
- Previous experience in medical office preferred
- Working knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy
- Phlebotomy Preferred
- Minimum of High School Diploma
- Proficient in basic computer programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records
- Type 65 WPM
Schedule:
- Office Hours are Tues - Thurs 8:30am-5:30pm (or until done with patients).
- We are taking applications for a part-time position. We are in need of a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Medical Assistant/ scribe
- Needed Hours: 21-27 hours/week
- We only have 1 provider, so there is a fair amount of flexibility. When he is off, the office will be closed.
- There is potential that the schedule will be Monday-Wednesday 8:30am-5:30pm
Starting Pay:
- Hourly Rate DOE
