PRN ASC Nurse

In Step Podiatry Surgery Center LLC is interested in PRN surgical RNs to staff a new start-up podiatric ambulatory surgical center with one procedure room. Interested candidates should be detail oriented, value patient safety and have strong interpersonal communication skills. They should have strong multitasking and be comfortable with sterile environments and techniques. RN may be responsible for covering pre op/PACU and/or OR circulating and documenting for the cases. Cases typically on Wednesday and/or Friday.

Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

• Perform blood pressures and assist surgeons and anesthesia staff during surgical procedures.
• Will clean and prepare surgical equipments.
• Must be current with OSHA standards.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures and ASC drugs.
• Assist with patient care in recovery room.
• Document nursing care in medical record.
• Must check equipment and supplies for expiration, need for inspection and proper care and maintenance.
• Follow universal precaution procedures.
• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery.
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
• Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure.
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition.
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria.
• Log all findings in patient files.
• Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort.
• Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician.
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies.
  
  

Qualifications

• 3 years of prior nursing experience.
• Previous ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
