Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques, including IV infusions, medication administration, and injection procedures.
- Manage complex care needs such as wound suturing, ostomy care, ventilator management, dialysis support, and tube feeding.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection/processing, laboratory testing, and interpreting results to inform patient treatment plans.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, trauma medicine at Level I & II trauma centers, neonatal resuscitation procedures, and hospice & palliative medicine.
- Utilize advanced skills in cardiac catheterization, telemetry monitoring, and infectious disease care to ensure patient safety and optimal recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with relevant state licensing boards.
- Proven experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic; proficiency in ICD-9/10 coding is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in various specialties including ICU experience, emergency room experience, hospital medicine, internal medicine, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques such as vital signs measurement, physical examinations, venipuncture (phlebotomy), catheter care (including Foley catheters), and aseptic techniques.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations across settings like nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home & community care environments, or specialty clinics such as ophthalmology or geriatrics is highly desirable.
- Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and other relevant credentials are preferred.
