About the Organization: In His Steps Foundation (IHS Foundation) is a nonprofit community foundation that serves two primary audiences in Northeast Ohio:
(1) We help people accomplish their charitable giving by administering donor advised funds and other tools that assist charitable giving.
(2) We help nonprofit organizations with their fundraising efforts by administering endowments and assisting with non-cash donations (i.e. planned gifts, gifts of real estate, bequests, personal property, stocks, or other types of assets).

Role Description In His Steps Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated professional to serve as its full-time Finance & Foundation Operations Manager. This position is responsible for the accuracy and efficiency of the Foundation’s financial, grantmaking, fund-administration, and office systems. Working closely with the President, outside accountants, investment partners, fundholders, grantees, and vendors, this individual will play a central role in ensuring that the Foundation’s charitable activity is administered with excellence, integrity, and responsiveness.
Responsibilities Include:
I. Finance Management
a. Oversee the Foundation's day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoice processing, and related financial records.
b. Monitor the administrative budget, prepare financial reports for the President and Board, and identify significant budget variances.
c. Coordinate the annual audit, compliance review, and required financial filings in partnership with outside accountants and auditors.
II. Fund Administration
a. Administer donor-advised, endowment, charitable gift annuity, designated, and other charitable funds, including establishing new funds and maintaining complete fund agreements and records.
b. Monitor contributions, distributions, fund balances, and fund restrictions while ensuring the accuracy of financial and database records.
c. Respond to routine fundholder inquiries and coordinate more complex charitable matters with the President.
d. Maintain appropriate internal controls, documentation standards, and financial procedures while investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
III. Grant Administration:
a. Process and track grant recommendations, approvals, payments,
acknowledgments, and related documentation in accordance with Foundation policies.
b. Communicate regularly with fundholders, grantees, financial institutions, and other parties involved in charitable transactions.
c. Prepare grant, fund distribution, and General Fund Grants Committee materials, reports, award communications, and records for staff and Board review.
IV. Office Operations:
a. Help oversee the Foundation's day-to-day office operations, including vendor relationships, technology coordination, facilities, office equipment, supplies, insurance records, and filing systems.
b. In partnership with the Administrative Assistant, serve as a professional point of contact for visitors, phone calls, email inquiries, mailings, and Foundation communications.
c. Assist the President in coordinating the Foundation's two annual events and other operational projects as needed.
Qualifications of a Successful Candidate:
I. Professional Qualities
a. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered.
b. Three to five years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, nonprofit
operations, fund administration, or a related financial role.
c. Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, financial controls, reconciliations,
and sound financial recordkeeping practices.
d. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook), database software, and bookkeeping/accounting systems.
e. Demonstrated ability to manage projects, communicate professionally in writing, and maintain accurate, organized financial records.
f. Nonprofit experience is preferred but not required.

a. A professing Christian who actively participates in a local church and supports the mission and values of In His Steps Foundation.
b. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
c. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, board members, fundholders, grantees, vendors, and other stakeholders.
d. Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to thrive in a collaborative small-office environment while developing long-term expertise in the Foundation's systems and charitable work.
e. Demonstrates sound judgment, personal responsibility, and a commitment to carrying out work with excellence.
Compensation: The salaried position is expected to be $75,000 annually, dependent upon skillset and experience. This position comes with additional benefits including:
The Foundation will pay for medical insurance (health, vision, dental) including monthly premiums for the employee and will extend benefits to family.
The Foundation will provide up to a 4% matching 403(b) contribution.
The Foundation will make an HSA contribution.

Hours and Location: This position will require traditional office hours (M-F, eight-hour days). Occasional evening, weekend, travel, or professional-development commitments may be required.
