A well‐established civil defense firm in Cleveland is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys in its Medical Malpractice practice group. This role is ideal for a detail‐oriented professional with strong litigation support skills and experience working with medical records, healthcare providers, and complex defense cases. The position offers a hybrid schedule and summer hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily administrative and litigation support to medical malpractice attorneys

• Draft, revise, and format correspondence, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents

• Prepare and organize discovery materials, including requests, responses, and document production

• Manage medical records, expert materials, and case files

• Coordinate depositions, IMEs, hearings, and meetings

• Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, and docketing information

• Assist with trial preparation, including assembling exhibits, witness lists, and binders

• Communicate with clients, experts, court personnel, and opposing counsel

• Handle time entry, filing, scanning, and general administrative tasks

• Support multiple attorneys and manage competing deadlines in a fast‐paced environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant or secretary

• Experience in medical malpractice, insurance defense, or healthcare‐related litigation strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of litigation procedures and court rules

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems

• Excellent organization, communication, and proofreading skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

• High attention to detail and strong client‐service mindset
