A highly respected, Midwest-based litigation firm is seeking a talented Litigation Attorney with 5-8 years of experience to join its growing Detroit office. Known for its strong reputation in civil litigation, collaborative culture, and commitment to attorney development, the firm offers the opportunity to work alongside accomplished litigators while managing sophisticated, high-exposure matters.

This position is ideal for an attorney with a background in transportation, trucking, insurance defense, premises liability, product liability, or general civil litigation who is looking for meaningful courtroom involvement, direct client contact, and a long-term growth opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Conduct and defend depositions, including party, fact witness, and expert depositions.
• Lead and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and court appearances.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation-related filings.
• Develop case strategies and advise clients on risk, exposure, and resolution options.
• Handle all phases of trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and motion practice.
• Collaborate with partners and clients on complex litigation matters.
• Participate in trials and arbitration proceedings.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active Michigan bar admission, or ability to waive into the jurisdiction.
• 5-8 years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience in transportation, insurance defense, trucking, liability, or related litigation strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage cases and client relationships.
• Significant experience handling depositions, mediations, court appearances, and trial preparation.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
