What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nephrology Physician position at IMS Care Center?

The Nephrology Physician will provide direct patient care to patients. This responsibility includes the provision of an d attention to the care of major and minor illnesses, to long range issues of health and disease and to the needs for specialty consultation. The physician shall report to the Chair of Specialty on issues related to medical care and treatment. Receives administrative supervision from a Practice Manager. Instill the IMS Care Center’s mission, vision and values in the work performed.
Essential Functions:
- Assess the health status of patients through health history, performing physical examination and diagnostic tests
- Develop and implement plans for providing treatment of illness and preventive services
Provide comprehensive care in a medical care clinic setting. Including but not limited to:
°Diagnosing and treating kidney conditions
°Managing kidney replacement therapy:

- Overseeing dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal) and preparing patients for kidney transplants.

°Developing and implementing treatment plans:

- This involves creating tailored plans, adjusting medications, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals like dieticians.

- Perform minor outpatient procedures in accordance with IMS credentialing/privileging policy
- Assess patient needs and arrange for specialty referrals, diagnostic and in-patient care and make appropriate referrals for service
- Responsible for documenting patient information and visiting information into IMS’ Electronic Health Record in an accurate and timely manner
- Provide patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit. Verify and document that the patient understands diagnosis, treatment and follow up recommendations
- Provide consultation to nurse clinicians and nurse practitioners
- Renders care to IMS patients in accordance with quality and standards as are established by IMS, the standards of care prevailing in the community, applicable law, and according to state and federal grant requirements for non-discrimination regardless of status, race, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay
REQUIREMENTS:
- One year of post full licensure experience in the practice of medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in Arizona
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures
- Requires the ability to manage multi changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion
- Must have knowledge of and always follow HIPAA guidelines and secure Protected Health Information
- Must be able to perform CPR on infants, children, and adults without assistance
- The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
