Location: Redondo Beach
Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 / year
As a Test Specialist at Impulse, you will perform a wide range of spacecraft component and assembly testing while developing and maintaining state-of-the-art test equipment. You will work closely with engineering to improve overall test processes across the company.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble and test high quality, high reliability propulsion components, combustion devices and electromechanical assemblies
- Perform verifications of flight hardware and document results in a clear, precise and complete manner
- Improve processes to enable automated acceptance testing
- Respond to production related non-conformances and drive to root cause and disposition
- Maintain process planning documents and action feedback when necessary
- Perform maintenance and calibration activities for automated acceptance testing equipment
- Work with engineers to create 2D drawings from existing 3D models by applying established drawing specifications and standards
- Provide training and guidance to other technicians
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 7 years of experience working on propulsion or electronic assembly and/or test production environment or a bachelor's degree in an engineering field
- Deep knowledge of the safe operation of pressure, electrical, power and data acquisition systems
- Proficient with wiring and electrical systems
- Proficient with fabricating and acquiring parts to build test capabilities from basic requirements with minimal direction from others
- Ability to troubleshoot problems with fluid and electrical systems and implement scrappy solutions
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering
- 9 years of demonstrated professional experience providing support for the production and test of highly complex components (e.g. valves, actuators)
- Experience designing tooling in a hardware development environment
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
- Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
