General Description:
The Program Associate will support our general warehouse operations in Baltimore, including the packing and delivery of our Bedtime in a Box and Learning in a Box materials. This position involves participating in the day to day operations of our warehouse as well as the distribution of our Bedtime Boxes and Learning Boxes to the community. This position requires punctuality, a clean driving record, and experience driving a delivery van. This position is client-facing, and requires the employee to provide friendly and reliable customer service while delivering materials into buildings with a variety of access points. Applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once.
Specific responsibilities:
- Participate in the packing of Boxes and preparation of program materials for van and freight delivery, including wrapping pallets.
- Ensure that outbound shipments are complete, of high-quality, and secure in order to minimize damage.
- Support with inventory management, including the ongoing monitoring of inventory levels and accurate daily input of receipt of inventory into the inventory management system.
- Cleaning and organization of the warehouse.
- Cultivate and maintain communication and teamwork with clients, volunteers, coworkers, and community partners.
- Safely drive and operate a delivery vehicle at all times in all weather conditions.
- Safely transport materials to and from specified locations according to delivery schedules.
- Provide courteous and efficient service to customers when delivering Boxes.
- Communicate with program staff and Box recipients if any traffic issues cause delays, including providing updated arrival times.
- Properly load by hand and secure Boxes during deliveries to ensure that they are not damaged in transit.
- Carefully unload Boxes from the delivery van, using hand trucks as required.
- Obtain signatures from customers upon completion of each delivery to confirm receipt of goods.
- Perform preventative vehicle maintenance checks and notify management of any concerns.
- Notify management of any accidents, parking tickets, vehicle damage, or maintenance needs.
- Ensure that the company vehicle is clean and well-maintained at all times.
- Other duties as required by the organization or requested by the management and the CEO.
- Work closely with program and management personnel to accomplish daily tasks that support the broader organization.
Work Experience Requirements:
We are looking for a motivated individual with a positive attitude who enjoys interacting with people and delivering a high level of customer service. Prior work in a nonprofit organization is preferred.
- 1 years experience as a delivery driver, preferably for a nonprofit or service organization.
- 1 years of experience in the shipping and receiving industry.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Proficiency with Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Must have, and maintain, a valid Maryland driver’s license.
- Must have, and maintain, a clean driving record from the MVA.
- Working with a high level of efficiency, with a focus on customer service, are essential skills for this role.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma
Other Requirements:
- Proficiency in Google docs and other software including spreadsheets
- Prior experience driving a Ford Transit (or similar) van is preferable.
- Experience with vehicle maintenance (changing tires, etc.) is preferable.
- Have reliable personal transportation to and from work
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
- The ability to utilize GPS and local road maps.
- The ability to operate hand trucks and electric lifts
