Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) was established in 2013 with the mission of increasing the college enrollment and graduation rates of young men of color (YMOC). This is a full-time, on-site role located in Baltimore, MD, for a College Access Mentor at Improve Your Tomorrow. The College Access Mentor will be responsible for supporting, mentoring, and guiding young men of color in their pursuit of higher education. Key daily tasks include providing academic support, assisting with college applications, mentoring students in personal and professional development, facilitating workshops, and collaborating with schools and community partners to create college access opportunities. The mentor will serve as a trusted advisor and role model, helping students navigate barriers to academic and personal success.
- Mentorship and coaching skills to support students' academic and personal growth
- Experience in educational guidance, college application processes, and career readiness initiatives
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to build relationships with students, educators, families, and community partners
- Passion for improving outcomes for underserved youth and promoting equity in education
- Background in education, counseling, social work, or related fields is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
