Overnight Supervisor

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Primary purpose is to oversee Driver operations and delivery of products to customers while maintaining direct delivery and Driver responsibilities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Transportation Supervisor, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.  

• Ensure Drivers perform Daily Pre-trip and equipment evaluation/inspection prior to departure; 
• Coordinates driver and equipment coverage of all routes and shuttle as well as back up for all positions while possessing Class A CDL with all necessary endorsements needed for proper coverage of all functions;
• Responsible for proper and accurate delivery of all product/paperwork or equipment delivery by Driver to any customer or company affiliate;
• Responsible for wearing proper uniforms while company time or business, etc.
• Responsible for accurate accounting of delivery paper to include all required documentation and secured and accurate collection of cash, checks or other forms of payment approved by Accounts Receivable;
• Responsible for maintaining warehouse operations/transportation files, routing/scheduling store deliveries, and general transportation dept. admin duties;
• Responsible for following up on various forms/checklists and that are utilized by transportation department as set forth by management; i.e., daily DVIR, DOT Logs, etc.
• Handles computer operations, email, and telephone in a professional manner while driving company equipment and while and during the delivery process;
• Reports to work on time, as directed by the Ops Manager, and complete all duties in a timely manner;
• Performs above listed duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing the information effectively and communicating the information as needed effectively; 
• Provides assistance when needed in warehouse, will call area, driver’s room, and damage room as needed.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the Transportation Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Participates in the hiring and firing process; disciplines and commends employees accordingly; handles employee complaints; evaluates employee job performance; directs the employee performance planning process and sets job expectations in order to establish obtainable goals; directly supervises as many as four or more Drivers. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The physical demands of this job include strenuous physical activity performing delivery activities to stores, warehouses, etc.   Safety procedures such as 3-point contact while climbing in and around Heavy Transportation Equipment must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb ladders or ramps. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must regularly lift 20-40 pounds and occasionally lift 50 to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently work in wet humid and freezing conditions and while working in outdoor weather conditions.   The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate.
