Bartender/Barback

LOCATION: Baton Rouge, LA

SUMMARY: The duties of a Don Juan's Spirits Bartender include verifying the identification and age of customers, preparing and serving alcoholic beverages, accepting payment from customers, cleaning glasses and bar utensils and balancing cash receipts to record sales of the cigar and alcohol transactions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Bartender, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description. All personnel within this job description shall be subject to cross-training into jobs within the organization based on Company needs. 

• Verify identification and age requirements of customers; 


• Mix traditional and creative cocktails; handle and serve alcohol beverages; 


• Serve and replenish beverages as requested by customers; 


• Ensure quality control of products and service; 


• Provide a list and have knowledge of the cigar inventory for sale to customers and be able to provide the details and specifics pertaining to each respective cigar requests; 


• Process payment from customers; 


• Clean glasses and bar utensils; maintain cleanliness of bar and table surfaces during shifts; 


• Maintains cleanliness throughout the shift of all customer and "employee only" common areas including, but not limited to, bathrooms, bar area, and kitchen; 


• Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits Open and maintain tabs throughout shift; responsible for accountability of such tabs; 


• Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere; 


• Responsible for completing ALL items listed on the Opening, Closing and Weekly Item checklists as assigned by management; responsible for changes and/or amendments to such checklists

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The physical demands of this job include light physical activity performing sometimes repetitive activities of an administrative, productive and/or technical nature that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly talk or hear, use hands to manipulate, handle or feel, and reach with hands or arms. The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, stoop and kneel. The employee must be able regularly lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements of this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Must have vision ability to see and visually observe operations and to read written instructions and computer printouts; ability to work in areas of varying light levels; some areas may be dimly lit, dusty, or have smoke at times; able to walk on uneven surfaces and steps as necessary; must have good balance and able to carry multiple food items on plates or trays to deliver to guests; must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance; must be able to stand, carry, and walk throughout shift; must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to push, pull and move levers or buttons, equipment and furniture throughout work shift; must be able to work with arms raised above head during work shift; 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment characteristics described herein represent employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, as follows: Work in an area where patrons are smoking cigars and are subject to second-hand smoke; must be able to work in areas of varying noise levels; may be unusually noisy or loud at times; may be exposed to chemicals customarily used in the cleaning of food and beverage operations; may be exposed to allergens customarily found in food such as tree nuts, shell fish and etc.
