Key Responsibilities

Veterinary Assistants support the medical team by helping ensure efficient, safe, and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities include:

Patient Care Support

• Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas
• Assist doctors and RVTs during exams and treatments
• Monitor patient comfort and safety
• Assist with patient intake and discharge

Medical & Hospital Support

• Prepare laboratory samples and diagnostic tests
• Clean and maintain medical equipment
• Maintain organized treatment areas and hospital cleanliness
• Assist with radiographs, lab work, and procedures as trained
• Support surgical preparation and recovery areas

Client Interaction

• Help provide clear and compassionate communication to clients
• Reinforce doctor and technician instructions when appropriate
• Assist with patient discharge and aftercare guidance

Team Coordination

• Work collaboratively with doctors, RVTs, receptionists, and assistants
• Communicate patient updates and workflow needs
• Help maintain smooth hospital flow during busy appointments
