Staff Accountant

Leading consumer services company is looking for an high potential Staff Accountant to join the team! The staff accountant will be responsible for the month end close process, including the preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure overall accuracy of the consolidated financial statements. This position reports to the Accounting Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for the preparation of General Ledger journal entries for the month-end close and to close the books in a timely manner.
• Understand, analyze and complete balance sheet reconciliations, including explaining and reclassifying variances.
• Analyze and explain/reclassify variances in financial statements.
• Assist in the inventory accounting area by reviewing and analyzing financial data associated with inventory transactions.
• Developed strong analytical skills and attention to detail in financial reporting.
• Ensure that monthly cash is reconciled, and bank reconciliations are complete and matched to the General Ledger
• Prepares and assists in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, annual and other State or Federal reports,
• Assist in process improvements, including documenting processes and procedures and identifying and developing internal controls.
• Ensure that accounting records and reports are in compliance with accepted policies and procedures and government regulations.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Prepare special analyses and ad-hoc reports as requested and/or needed.
• Assist auditors by providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal process that is required for audit.
• Prepare annual audit schedules and documents as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• BS/BA Degree in Accounting, or BS/BA in Business with emphasis in accounting
• 2 years’ work experience in accounting public accounting/private industry
