What you’ll do
- Test and validate diesel-electric propulsion, air brake performance, and system interactions.
- Isolate faults and repair issues spanning electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct track tests under strict operating rules and safety procedures.
- Follow work instructions, capture accurate measurements, and configure specialized instrumentation.
- Operate locomotives as well as tuggers, forklifts, and overhead cranes as needed.
- Read and interpret schematics, flowcharts, gauges, and precision instruments.
Lead-level impact
- Serve as the point person for difficult troubleshooting and root-cause resolution.
- Prioritize and assign daily work to maintain safety and schedule adherence.
- Report findings and partner with Quality and Production to drive corrective action.
Schedule options
- 1st: Mon–Fri, 6:00a–4:30p
- 2nd: Mon–Fri, 2:30p–11:00p
- 3rd: Sun–Thurs, 9:30p–6:00a
- OT available Friday–Sunday

Qualifications
Must have
- Skill Level I: 0–2 years of experience or an electrical/mechanical engineering degree.
- Skill Level II: 2 years of relevant experience or advanced technical skill.
- Hands-on troubleshooting in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to interpret schematics and flowcharts.
- Strong communication skills for documentation and non-conformance resolution.
Nice to have
- Experience with high-voltage systems and advanced test equipment.
- Comfort with Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Previous locomotive testing or closely related industry experience.
Work conditions
- Strength: Lift up to 50 lbs.; navigate confined spaces.
- Motion: Standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, stair climbing throughout the shift.
- Environment: Temperature extremes, noise, vibration, and oils indoors and outdoors.
- Safety: Follow PPE requirements and blue-flag policies at all times.
