Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Provide therapeutic nursing care to patients experiencing mental health or behavioral health conditions.
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education and support.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate treatment plans.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide leadership to licensed and ancillary staff.
- Monitor patient progress and use clinical data to improve outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care environment.
- Support unit goals, quality initiatives, and patient satisfaction efforts.
Required
- Diploma from an accredited school of nursing
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Behavioral Health or Psychiatric nursing experience strongly preferred
Required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or a Compact State License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Certification in Behavioral Health or related clinical specialty
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with EPIC, electronic medical records and web-based applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary care teams
