If you are an operations leader who wants to escape unstable production volumes, shrinking corporate benefits, and high-turnover shop floors, this people-first leadership seat is built for you. We are a privately held, ultra-stable, and vertically integrated packaging manufacturer celebrating over 90 years of continuous market success. With a national footprint of more than 4,200 employees across 36 facilities, we are actively expanding. Following a recent $100 million local facility upgrade, we have officially broken ground on yet another massive plant expansion at this location. We are a company built on long-term growth, and our exceptional employee retention numbers prove that our people choose to plant their roots here for the long haul.
This specific opening is a deeply rewarding, people-focused department leadership role. While technical manufacturing knowledge is valuable, your ability to build a cohesive, motivated, and high-performing floor team matters just as much. The total rewards package we provide is genuinely rare in modern manufacturing: up to 7 weeks of annual vacation, a fully company-funded pension plan (fully vested after 5 years), a matching 401(k), premium medical coverage, and exclusive company-sponsored healthcare access. While the rotating 12-hour schedule requires full dedication, it is completely structured and predictable, automatically rewards your weekend blocks with premium pay, and guarantees you a full 6-day mini-vacation every three weeks.
What You Will Be Doing
- Providing high-visibility daily shift leadership to a skilled team of 25–30 hourly production employees within a unionized converting and finishing environment
- Administering the collective bargaining agreement fairly, enforcing plant safety policies, and managing employee performance, attendance, and development
- Driving robust quality assurance initiatives, including managing in-process QC audits, coordinating corrective actions, and collaborating with our internal Technical team
- Coordinating and executing all departmental safety program requirements to promote a proactive, safety-first culture on every single shift
- Overseeing routine preventive maintenance program execution and partnering closely with the Maintenance crew to maximize equipment reliability
- Managing departmental operating supplies and inventory rotation to actively control floor costs and minimize material waste
- Identifying, recommending, and implementing process or machinery upgrades to enhance shift efficiency, boost output, and hit corporate targets
What We Are Looking For

- People-First Instincts: Strong natural leadership and communication instincts. You know how to build trust, resolve conflict on the floor, and keep a diverse team engaged.
- Organizational Mastery: Exceptional organizational skills with a proven track record of balancing competing production priorities on a fast-moving, high-volume floor.
- Career Stability: A reliable, long-tenured professional work history. A track record of job-hopping is a disqualifier for this role; we want someone looking to build a long-term home.
- Schedule Commitment: Full commitment to a rotating 12-hour day/night shift structure, including alternating weekends.
