Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP-1 or DSP-2) serving all Impact Counties! In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism and other disabilities. Your energetic and positive approach will empower individuals to achieve greater independence, enhance their quality of life, and participate actively in their communities. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while developing your skills in IDD supports, caregiving, and community engagement.

Duties

  • Follow the Individual Support Plan (ISP) to support the individual’s goals and desired outcomes
  • Assist individuals in developing and maintaining daily living skills, including household tasks, personal hygiene, and routines
  • Provide guidance, prompting, and cues to encourage independence; staff are expected to teach and support, not perform tasks on behalf of the individual
  • Support community integration by assisting individuals in accessing and participating in community activities
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times
  • Assist with mobility, transportation, and attending appointments or errands
  • Provide medication assistance/administration as authorized and trained
  • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality standards
  • Accurately document services and report any concerns or incidents per organizational policy
  • This position requires continuous, one-on-one supervision
  • The individual receiving services must remain under the DSP’s supervision at all times during scheduled hours
  • DSPs are required to accompany individuals during all community activities and errands.
  • Leaving an individual unattended at home or in the community during scheduled support hours is strictly prohibited
  • Remaining in a vehicle while the individual completes errands independently is not permitted unless specifically outlined in the ISP and authorized

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed to support daily activities
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility, which may include transfers, repositioning, or use of mobility devices
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and transport individuals as required
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities to monitor safety and respond effectively to the individual’s needs
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations, including implementing safety protocols or physical interventions if trained and required

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
