Job Title: Elementary/Middle School Teacher

Reports To: Principal/Director of Academics

Department: Academic

Job Assignment: 10 Months, 2026-27 School Year

FLSA Status: Exempt

Purpose: The Impact Charter School Elementary or Middle School Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with the Louisiana Department of Education curriculum frameworks and the mission of Impact Charter School. The teacher will create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, character development, and social-emotional growth for all students.

Teachers are expected to maintain high expectations, use data-driven instructional practices, collaborate with colleagues and families, and support the unique mission and goals of the charter school.

Areas of Responsibility Descriptions:

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Louisiana Student Standards.
  • Deliver engaging instruction using research-based strategies and differentiated approaches.
  • Integrate literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills across content areas.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
  • Incorporate technology and innovative instructional practices when appropriate.

Student Achievement & Assessment

  • Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Prepare students for state and local assessments as required by the Louisiana Department of Education.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance.
  • Provide targeted interventions and enrichment to meet diverse student needs.

Classroom Environment & Management

  • Establish and maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies aligned with school-wide expectations.
  • Promote respect, responsibility, and positive student behavior.
  • Support students’ social-emotional development.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, interventionists, and support personnel to meet student needs.

Charter School Commitment

  • Support and actively promote the mission and vision of the Impact Charter School.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, extracurricular activities, and community engagement efforts.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification appropriate to grade level and subject area or the ability to obtain certification through an approved pathway.
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position requires frequent walking and standing, supervision of students indoors and outdoors, and the ability to respond to emergency situations as needed. The work environment may include exposure to varied weather conditions, occasional evening or weekend events, and a fast-paced school setting with frequent interruptions.
