Position Summary
This role is ideal for a tax professional with 5-7 years of public accounting experience, ready to take the next step into a lead review role. The selected candidate will focus on reviewing complex tax returns for a variety of client types, including business entities, individuals, non-profits, and specialized sectors such as affordable housing.
This is a review-focused position - preparation work is completed by staff and seniors. You'll provide technical guidance, quality assurance, and mentorship to less-experienced team members.
What You'll Do
- Review complex federal and state tax returns (corporate, individual, non-profit, etc.)
- Collaborate with internal teams and ensure quality of deliverables
- Assist with tax planning and research when needed
- Support training and development of junior staff
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Active CPA license
- 5-7 years of recent public accounting experience with a focus in taxation
- Strong understanding of tax compliance and review processes
Schedule & Flexibility
- Reasonable work-life balance: 40-45 hours/week during non-peak periods. 55-60 hours/week during peak tax season (mostly just in the final weeks)
- Hybrid work model - candidates within a 1-hour radius preferred
- Office presence required at least biweekly for team meetings
